Introductory Days
Saturdays 28 April, 19 May, 9 June, 7 July
Stamfordham Village Hall
Four fascinating days, which will introduce beginners to the world of the honey bee and give them the opportunity to work with bees, will be held near Stamfordham from April to July.
The days will be led by former Ryton resident and past chairman of the Northumberland Beekeepers Association, John Stonell, assisted by Michael Lewis from Heugh, Director of Stamfordham Ltd, suppliers of beekeeping equipment. They will show how the honeybee lives and works, the management of a colony of bees, and how to harvest honey. Participants will also visit a nearby apiary for supervised handling of bees.
Included in the cost of the day, which runs from 9.30am – 5pm, are loaned protective clothing, insurance cover and refreshments. Adult cost is £75 per person, £35 per person for 14 - 18 year olds. The days are not open to under 14’s.
